Mr. Lee Chi Ching
Lee Chi Ching. born in Hong Kong in 1963, is a distinguished artist renowned for his versatility across multiple mediums including ink painting, oil painting, watercolor, sketching, calligraphy, and comics.
Beginning his professional career in 1981, Lee established himself by creating numerous Hong Kong-style comics throughout the 19805, His artistic journey expanded in the 1990s through collaborat of the three Kinse publishers, producing acclaimed War” and “The Analects of Confucius.
A significant milestone came in 1998 when Lee co-founded a publishing house with legendary novelist Jin Yong, creating comic adaptations of Jin Yong’s martial arts epics “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” and “The Smiling Proud Wanderer.” During this period, he also illustrated covers for the Japanese editions and revised versions of Jin Yong’s novels.
Lee’s exceptional talent received international recognition in 2007 when his work “The Art of War” won the Best Work Award at the inaugural Japan International Manga Awards. His close association with Jin Yong’s legacy continued as he curated the Jin Yong Gallery exhibition at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in 2017 and designed Jin Yong-themed postage stamps for Hong Kong Post in 2018.
Since 2019, Lee has served as the chief writer for the literature and arts column of Ming Pao Monthly. His artistic journey continues with his upcoming solo exhibition “Beyond the Image” at the Guangdong Provincial Zhongshan Library in Guangzhou in 2024.
Lee Chi Ching’s works are held in prestigious collections including various museums, The Peninsula Hotel, Hong Kong Jockey Club, and private collections worldwide.
