Kang, Doha (born 1969, real name Kang, Sung-soo) is a leading pioneer in the Korean comics industry. Since his debut in 1987, he has consistently challenged genre conventions and experimented with new styles, earning a dedicated readership. His works are highly acclaimed for their exceptional art, subtle emotional depth, and profound social insight.
This exhibition showcases his major works, offering a broad view of his creative world. His 2004 masterpiece, “The Great Catsby” is considered a foundational work of the early webtoon era, winning the “Korea Content Awards Grand Prize” in 2005. His 2021 work, “Goldfish” resonated with many readers by exploring the meaning of family and true happiness. His latest work, “19 (Nineteen)” a unique sci-fi mystery where all of humanity’s bodies are reset to the age of 19, is currently being serialized on the Japanese platform Piccoma and the Korean platform Lezhin Comics and is highly anticipated for a screen adaptation.
