Exhibition Overview

The “Hong Kong Comics and Culture Exhibition” is divided into four zones: Cross-over Creativity, Unconventional Leaps, Everyday Laughters, and Beyond the Heroes.

Zone 1 : Cross-over Creativity

Renowned Hong Kong comics such as Storm Warriors, Oriental Heroes, and Feel 100% have deeply influenced the city’s entertainment landscape with their vivid characters and captivating stories. These classics have successfully expanded into films, video games, animated series, stage dramas, and dance performances, becoming both box-office hits and cultural phenomena. They demonstrate that a well-crafted story can transcend media and cultures to resonate widely.

The zone will showcase works by 3 Hong Kong comic artists.

Hong Kong’s trendsetting comic artists—including Pen SO, Bonnie PANG, KWONG Chi Kit, Linus LIU, Man TSANG, and LI Chi Tak—are celebrated for their bold innovation. Their works span a variety of styles, from stylish and witty to nostalgic, sharp, ironic, and hilariously offbeat. These comics not only shape popular culture but also create resonance across generations.

The zone will showcase works by 6 Hong Kong comic artists.

Zone 3: Everyday Laughters

Since the 1960s, humour and satire comics have played a vital role in shaping public discourse. Iconic characters such as Old Master Q, My Boy, Sau Nga Chun, and Q Boy provide accessible yet thought-provoking commentary on social issues, while inspiring films and artistic creations. More recently, titles such as Tamasing and Samba have extended their influence into merchandise and education, injecting humour and satire into everyday life and sparking further dialogue.

The zone will showcase works by 6 Hong Kong comic artists and 2 Korean comic artists.

Zone 4: Beyond the Heroes

Hong Kong martial arts comics have long captivated readers with their stunning visuals and powerful storytelling, blending intense action with deep emotion while exploring themes of romance, adventure, justice, and resilience. Representative works include LEE Chi Ching’s ink-and-brush adaptations of wuxia novels, Andy SETO’s City of Darkness, KHOO Fuk-Lung, James’s Armour Man, and Eric Cheng’s Investiture of the Gods. These works honour traditional wuxia spirit while continuously innovating, keeping the genre fresh and relevant.
